| CYA GIRLS DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM U12 AND U14 TEAMS |
| Program Details: We will offer the most comprehensive hockey training and developmental program in the area. Our focus will not be limited to on-ice team instruction. Skill sessions and combines testing (twice per month) will ensure each player has quickly attainable skill-related goals. CYA will provide the platform to make each athlete a more skilled hockey player. Off-ice training programs will place a focus on speed, agility and quickness, as well as core development and balance. The final components of our program, although more relevant to the older teams, will also be made available to the younger developmental group (College Placement and Mentoring and EXACT Sports Testing). The U14 team will be a member of the MWEHL and also participate in NIHL Boys. The U12 team will play in NIHL Boys, as well as participate in several girls tournaments. Coaching Staff: Jeff Roche (Head Coach U14) Michelle Snyder (Head Coach U12) Bruce Turpin (Girls Program Director Randy Jordan (Player Development Director) Facilities: Practices and games to be held at Lake Forest Academy Ice Arena and Heartland Ice Arena. Bi-monthly skill sessions located at Hoffman Estates Park District. |
| Hockey Excellence Skills Program To assist you in reaching the goals you aspire to, the 12 and 14s, as part of our ‘hockey excellence” package are announcing the addition of a very specific, goal orientated 5 skill (perfect skating, stick -handling, shooting, passing and checking …tactical ways of gaining puck possession) training format that will regularly take place through the season (twice per month and the Hoffman Estates Ice Arena). This demanding program is designed to give you the platform to excel beyond the normal regular season team development. It will initially focus on skating technique perfection (through the use of video analysis, edge breakdowns of angles, depth and locking positions), explosive direct, lateral and stop and start speed with and without pucks and specialty edge training. As players consistently employ the “Sumo System” of skating excellence these techniques will be applied to the other 4 major skills. To give each player tangible goals in which to see the results of their extra effort, a proven system of hockey combines testing elements will be done regularly. This unique application of tests with and without the puck takes the competitive spirit within a player and gives them a benchmark in which not only themselves, but college coaches can see if they are players on the rise or are reaching a plateau. The goal is to in a fun and challenging way almost unconsciously force players to train outside their comfort zone in a method called over speed training, mastered by the great European players. |
| College Placement Program We are creating a College Advisory or Placement Program that will help parents and players gather enough of the right information to make a good decision on their daughters future. With the help of our CYA Hockey Director, David Maciuk, who is currently the President of Mentor Group Sports Management, we will help each of our student-athletes identify a pathway to help guide them through their college planning and decision-making processes
A complete description of this program will be available in the near future. |
| College Mentor Program We will hand pick a group of experienced, enthusiastic, student-athletes (current and former DI and DIII players) who are passionate about the sport of hockey and are committed to providing ongoing support to their mentees. In addition to sending you a monthly e-newsletter, your mentor will be available to answer your questions via e-mail and will proactively send you regular tips and suggestions to address your needs and concerns. Your mentor is there to listen to your concerns and questions about college hockey and the college experience in general, and help address them so you will feel comfortable about making decisions regarding your future. |
| Elevate Your Potential EXACT Sports has developed a custom diagnostic tool that maximizes development and recruitment opportunities for players (CYA Player Tracker). EXACT Sports will provide support to the club and coaches through (1) comprehensive diagnostic reporting from the EXACT four part assessment, (2) analytical player development feedback for parents & family, and (3) online player profiling for use with recruiters, friends, etc. The EXACT Sports program is available to the Girls U12 and U14 teams, as well as all boys teams, at an additional fee of $150 per player. The program will be a great method of tracking your progress during the season and throughout the years. |
